I've just published a piece of web copy from the Hello Fashion Blog about how to have confidence in yourself. I can for sure do all of those little things that Christine suggests to make me feel better in that moment – I have my own blue bohemian dress that makes me feel like a viking princess.

However, my confidence trip hasn't come from my looks, but my abilities, so these are only temporary solutions to a bigger problem. And the thing is, I know I have good creative abilities, I went to university and got a first in my 1st year for Pete's sake! And despite all this, I'm still expecting immediate results in a job search.

I've come down to London, with minimal experience, wanting to earn some money in copywriting – at least freelance. After studying courses and making a website, I am running out of money and faith in myself.

If you're in a similar position to me, where you're starting a completely new life but just can't, I have thought up some ways on how to keep your spirits up when you're put to the ultimate test.

  1. You can always search for help online. Even though media can be full of misinformation, as long as you're not on the dark web, you'll come across people who have been in the same situation as you and are willing to help. This might be why you've clicked on this article. I definitely clicked on Christine's article for some tips to deal with my personal circumstances. We're here to help.

  2. Give yourself some time to entertain your hobbies. Remind yourself of what you're good at. Even though it might not be your job, your hobbies can prove to be very useful skills. Whether that's gaming, painting or playing the guitar, you can always do something with them. You're not totally lost and you're much better than you think you are.

  3. In a job search, it might be useful to look into slightly different areas of expertise. I've found that since I don't have much experience in writing, there are always freelance options. I originally created my website for a portfolio, but it's moved into a blog as well. It doesn't have to be entirely different to what you do, but it might be worth looking at different options.

  4. Familiarise yourself with new surroundings. If you have moved to a different location, you may be completely surrounded by new landmarks, buildings, parks. In the first couple of weeks living in London, I have discovered some fantastic quirks that I am proud to call my home and can take inspiration from. It's a good distraction.

  5. Don't forget to rest. Chances are, you're a very busy person getting acquainted with a new area and spending hours looking for a job to no avail. Remember you are human, and your body deserves rest. Not only does this include getting enough sleep, but also some form of meditation.

  6. Finally, just be kind to yourself. Making the decision to move your life elsewhere is a big achievement in itself. As long as you're putting some effort into everywhere else that's needed, you'll get there.

It takes a lot to have faith in yourself. Make sure that you remain aware of what's going on in your head and take necessary steps to work things through and calm yourself down.

This article has not only been written to give you advice in your life, but also as a way to sort my own thoughts out. There are people who are in the same boat as you, I am more than happy to have a chat on my Instagram or my LinkedIn, just hop over to my contact page.
